Empowering Futures

The Journey of Teaching Them How to Make It

Verna Tate, Executive Director

Teaching Them How to Make is a double minority-owned organization dedicated to empowering families in Charlotte, North Carolina. We specialize in essential life skills training and educational support. Founded on the principles of inclusion and support, T2HM Inc. began with a vision to uplift marginalized communities through education and skill development.

Teaching and mentoring philosophy had been foundational since Verna was young and continued through adulthood. Descending from a family of educators, the desire for knowledge was instilled in her at a young age.  She is respected because she primarily focuses on the positive in any situation. Her parents and siblings instilled in her a spiritual upbringing and strong educational ethics. Her maternal grandmother was an educator, along with two aunts who pursued teaching for 30 years. The various family members in education and entrepreneurialism encouraged her to launch this business to impact lives.

We have proudly served a diverse clientele, including at-risk families, educators, and scholars, all eager to achieve their dreams.
